Clean, tight, unmarked; crease to upper back corner of cover; light general wear; This book presents Anghik Ruben's first solo exhibition in a public art museum. Taking his work in new directions, he explores his cultural identity in a series of autobiographical sculptures that depict ancestors, family and respected elders. These social explorations extend to his Alaskan and Mackenzie Delta roots. Several works commemorate the people and his ancestors lost in a flu epidemic at the community of Kittigazuit in the early 20th century. The works are strong, compelling, large in scale, and bring a new dimension to contemporary Inuit sculpture.
