Clean, tight, unmarked; price clipped; otherwise absolute minimal wear; appears unread; In the Summer of 1930 two Minnesota teenagers paddled an 18 foot canoe from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay. The journey covered 2,250 miles, required sixty portages, and last nearly four months. Accidents and weather caused delays, and the young adventurers found themselves in a race to beat the fall freeze-up. One of the few published accounts of a 20th century canoe journey over the waterways earlier made famous by fur traders. When the two boys made the trip in 1930, the area was still a vast wilderness inhabited by Cree Indians, Mounties, and Hudson's Bay Company employees. The expedition, made without motor, radio, or adequate maps, was an extraordinary feat.
