Impressions of Manitoba - Posthumus, Marten
Impressions of Manitoba - Posthumus, Marten
Clean, tight, unmarked; large personal gift inscription partially blacked out on blank page; otherwise very minimal wear; From the time he learned to hold a pencil, Marten Posthumus wanted to draw things that caught his interest. At an early age he showed a natural appreciation of the forms and outlines he encountered in his birthplace. His humble beginnings in a small village in the Netherlands further anchored his lifelong focus on the representation of life in the country and, after emigrating to Canada, the depiction of all things pertaining to the prairies, its people, history and rural architecture. This book contains the Manitoba sketches in no particular order for the sake of artistic continuity. All of the accompanying comments are Marten's own.
