Clean, tight, unmarked; absolute minimal wear; appears unread; For countless years Mackinac Island, MI was viewed with awe by the Chippewa, Huron, and Ottawa. Most believed the island was created for this very purpose. Long ago the Chippewa tell of fishing in these very waters before there was an island. And then there came a great fog which shrouded the straits of Mackinac for three suns. When it rose, there lay the island with all its trees and blooming flowers. That time Git-chi Man-i-tou cam to stay. This is only one legend collect by Henry Rowe Schoolcraft who gained an international reputation for his collection of legends of the American Indian. Many of the following collection of legends were retold from his works.
