Translated by Stan Linkovich; As New; As revealed in articles and other materials of the time, the notable feature of the Russian immigration before the 1930s is that it is backward and disorganized. Only a few political immigrants strive for a wider scope of activity. Here and there they set up their own organizations or libraries. From the very beginning of the Russian Workers and Farmers Clubs, on the other hand, ordinary Russians attended schools, set up various self-development circles and amateur cultural groups, and founded a tightly-knit fraternity that earned the admiration of other national groups. The Russian organization became an exemplar of togetherness for many other Canadian organizations. Thousands of Russian Canadians contributed to this sense of solidarity. We can all feel satisfaction in the path traversed and extract valuable lessons and inspiration for a continuing effort for the social good.
