Clean, tight, unmarked; absolutely minimal wear; appears unread; Dolls of Canada's North is a collection of over fifty handmade dolls created by Inuit and First Nations from across the Canadian North. The dolls represent historical and contemporary perspectives on Northern traditions, fashion and culture. Curated by the Yukon Arts Centre for the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, this exhibition is the first of its kind to highlight this Inuit and First Nations art form and Northern garment design. The miniature versions of traditional clothing subtlety unite a nation of people through their quiet presence.
