Clean, tight, unmarked; name on ffep; otherwise very minimal wear; appears unread; Originally published in 1856, Drew's book is a remarkable and fascinating collection of firsthand interviews of fugitive slaves in Canada. In the early 1850s, white American abolitionist Benjamin Drew was commissioned by the Canadian Anti-Slavery Society and his Boston publisher John P. Jewett to travel to Canada West (now Ontario) to interview escaped slaves from the United States. One of the people Drew interviewed for this book, was Harriet Tubman.
