Three Women, Three Generations: Drawings by Pitseolak Ashoona, Napatchie Pootoogook and Shuvinai Ashoona - Blodgett, Jean
Three Women, Three Generations: Drawings by Pitseolak Ashoona, Napatchie Pootoogook and Shuvinai Ashoona - Blodgett, Jean
Clean, tight, unmarked; small crease to lower front inside corner; otherwise very minimal wear; The intent of this exhibition is to position the works by women artists of three different generations of the Ashoona family in the context of their respective lifetimes and lifestyles. To set the stage for this comparative analysis, Marybelle Mitchell and Pat Tobin have provided an excellent introduction to the creation of Nunavut, a 1999 event that marks the culmination of a century of change for the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic. The second essay, by Leslie Boyd, provides biographical information about each of the women and presents this within the context of their changing lifestyles. Exhibition drawings shown in colour and b&w.
