As New; A Manitoba legend. The chief of the Assiniboine people had a beautiful daughter. A Cree Chief and a Sioux Chief came to his lodge to ask for her hand in marriage. The Cree was the favored choice. In exchange for his bride he offered a white horse. The Sioux Chief, angered by the decision, came for revenge. The bridal couple fled on the stallion but the White Horse was spotted and betrayed their escape. The Sioux killed them both. The White Horse escaped into the woods. The people believe that the spirit of the Princess passed into the White Horse, and to this day the White Horse, in ghostly form. continues his wild wandering.
